EuroPriSe started as a project funded by the EU Commission with the aim of introducing an EU data protection seal of approval. Today, EuroPriSe Cert GmbH, a private company located in Bonn / Germany, offers data protection certification internationally.
EuroPriSe Cert focuses entirely on certifications in the field of data protection. We have thus developed a special expertise in this area. Our company is equipped with an interdisciplinary team of experienced technical and legal data protection certification specialists.
In early October 2022, EuroPriSe Cert was the first private company in the EU with certification criteria approved by the competent supervisory authority pursuant to Art. 42 GDPR. We are thus on the verge of being able to offer our customers an approved certification mechanism under the terms of the GDPR.
Holders of the EuroPriSe seals granted so far are companies of various sizes, from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to internationally active corporations such as Microsoft, SAP and Siemens.

EuroPriSe Cert GmbH was founded in 2021 with the aim of unleashing the full potential of official GDPR certification as soon as possible. EuroPriSe Cert is a 100% subsidiary of 2B Advice GmbH, Germany. 2B Advice as parent company ensures the financial stability of EuroPriSe Cert until the company is fully sustainable on its own.

EuroPriSe certifies
EuroPriSe offers generic certifications, therefore any processor service, controller service or IT product is eligible for certification. These three types of certification (processor, controller, product) share common grounds, but there are also specifics for each of them in place (e.g., dedicated criteria catalogues).
Services eligible for certification may address external customers or employees of the service provider. External customers may be consumers, enterprises or other persons / organisations. Services may be free of charge or subject to remuneration.
In terms of information technology used, services may be provided “offline” or require a connection to the Internet. Typical examples for the latter ones are web-based services such as online banking services, whistleblowing systems of search engines. A special subset of web-based services suitable for certification are cloud-based services such as IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) or SaaS (Software as a Service). The meaning of the notion IT-based service includes services related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT).
