Software module for obfuscation of video data completes fourth recertification
Privacy Protector is a software module for integration in a video management system which provides very effective algorithms for the obfuscation of video data.
Since receiving the seal for KiwiVision Privacy Protector for the first time in 2009, KiwiSecurity Software GmbH has succeeded in preserving it. The current recertification of the Privacy Protector is the fourth one after previous recertifications in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
The purpose of the Privacy Protector is to anonymize video data (by obfuscating persons or objects in the video) from surveillance cameras and storage devices in real-time. It also provides the possibility to define fixed obfuscated or non-obfuscated regions. Potential areas of operation range from highly frequented public spaces (airports, railway stations, etc.) to working places.
In practice, the Privacy Protector will operate between the video signal of surveillance cameras and the picture displayed on the monitor or the storage device. Furthermore, it can be used to obfuscate video data retrieved from a storage device. This results in displaying just obfuscated video data, with the monitored persons not being identifiable.
The reevaluation was conducted by EuroPriSe Technical Expert Mag. Andreas Krisch and EuroPriSe Legal Expert Dr. Thomas Strohmaier and showed that the Privacy Protector continues to meet all applicable EuroPriSe requirements. It is worth noting that Privacy Protector does even comply with EuroPriSe‘s GDPR ready requirements already.
